Jennifer McCabe

Jennifer McCabe is a curator, educator, and museum director with over 20 years of experience. She is currently Director and Chief Curator of SFO Museum, the only airport-based museum accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. The institution oversees more than twenty-five exhibition sites throughout San Francisco International Airport and stewards a permanent collection of over 160,000 objects related to the history of commercial aviation.

Previously, McCabe served eight years as Director and Chief Curator of the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, where the museum was twice named Best Museum by the Phoenix New Times. Her curatorial work explores intersectional feminisms, site-responsive commissions, and artist interventions. Major exhibitions include transfeminisms (2024), Dorothy Fratt: Color Mirage (2024), Phillip K. Smith III: Three Parallels (2023), and Counter-Landscapes: Performative Actions from 1970s–Now (2019). She also organized Now Playing: Video 1999–2019, featuring artists such as Candice Breitz, Christian Marclay, Shirin Neshat, and Diana Thater, and Double Agents: Carla Fernández and Pedro Reyes (2018).

Earlier, McCabe was Director and Chief Curator at the Museum of Craft and Folk Art in San Francisco, revitalizing its program through collaborations with artists such as Clare Rojas, Harrell Fletcher, and Randy Colosky, along with a partnership with Etsy. She also taught for more than a decade at Arizona State University, offering courses in global museums and curatorial activism.
