Born in San Francisco, Shannon Milar is a multidisciplinary artist working in collage, assemblage, and scent-based work. Play is central to her practice, informing how she approaches concepts and the forms that take shape through making. Grounded in traditional printmaking, she gravitates toward papers and materials that hold traces of memory and time, working with layers and surface to create points of engagement.

Milar holds a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Visual Arts from UC Berkeley Extension, a BFA in Graphic Design from The American College for the Applied Arts, and a Professional Qualification from Il Bisonte International Specialization School of Printmaking in Florence, Italy.

She has participated in artist residencies at Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, Atelier Empreinte in Luxembourg, and ExplorArt in Italy. These immersive environments strengthened her belief in the importance of community and sustained creative focus. Inspired by this, she co-founded Catalyst Art Retreat in Tuscany, supporting artists as they work alongside peers from around the world.

She lives and works in Palm Springs, California, where the desert’s light, textures, and sense of place often find subtle echoes in her work.
