Artist Bio Stephanie Vaughan is a contemporary artist whose work explores psychology, identity and the relationship between culture and personal experience. Inspired by a lifelong curiosity about what it means to be human, her practice examines how social narratives shape ideas of gender, the individuated Self and emotional expression.

Working through intuitive and experimental processes, Vaughan uses color to create an emotional atmosphere while abstract forms suggest primal gender desire and awareness. She works in mixed media, often incorporating materials such as oil pastels, acrylics, topographic maps, wood and wire. Her work invites viewers to pause, reflect and recognize something both familiar and quietly emotional within themselves as she continues her pursuit of mastering the human Self through art.
